Let's get it on!!!

Let's get it on!!! Yes, I am talking to you. In fact not just you, but everybody. There are alot of people missing from that spreadsheet you need to get in on this competition. We need to reach out to the whole family and get everybody to participate. Sure, they are going to give you excuses, but I will provide you with the answer to their excuses.

1. I don't have the $20 to participate? They don't need money to participate, they can still win and claim the bragging rights, without getting the money prize. They can participate just to help the others be motivated.

2. I don't have time? Everybody can carve 30 minutes out of the day.

3. I won't win, especially with Emmaline and some of the other exercise fanatics participating? This isn't about winning the competition and getting the money, but winning in life. This is about working as a family to be healthier. So if you are part of the family you need to participate, track your progress and encourage those around you to stay motivated.

4. I just had both my legs amputated, so I really can't work out? Well you still have you arms, so use those to exercise.

5. I don't want people to know my weight? We can work with you and make your weight private, or you can not participate in the weight challenge and just worry about the exercise challenge.

6. I don't want to commit and then feel like a failure when I become unmotivated and rarely workout? If you are not working out at all and the beginning of the competition and then because of the competition you end up working only 1 hour every month, well then you succeeded. You exercised one more hour then you would have. So just because you don't end up losing 20 lbs and don't get in enough shape to enter the Iron Man competition, doesn't mean you didn't succeed. So stop worrying about failure and sign up.

Know that I have provided you the training, go out there and get people involved in this, talk to them on the phone, in person, over email. Send them invites to this blog. Even if they don't join today, or this week. They can still participate. If I have to I will start targeting those in the family who have not already signed up and I will wake them up in the middle of the night with a phone call reminding them they have not signed up. And don't worry there is a 7 hour time difference so I will be able to call you during my lunch, but it will be early in the morning for you.

Mom, Dad, and Dannon, we are going to have rely on you alot to get people doing this since Deric and I are overseas and won't be able to harass people in person. Can we count on you?

Remember this is a family activity, there is no excuse for anyone. As Socrates said "The unexamined life is not worth living" so examine your life, find out what is stopping you from participating and fix it. If you think you have a good excuse as to why you can not participate, then tell me your excuse and I will find a way to still get you involved.
Let's get it on!!!

Todd’s excuse is; he has been working very hard for the last few years to become a sumo wrestler, so the losing weight competition will ruin all his efforts thus far.

Well Dad, this isn't just about losing weight, it is also about being in shape. And although it looks it may not seem this way, Sumo wrestlers actually work out alot, so all you have to do is work out. And Haylee I am glad that you are participating, is Jeff? also this blog isn't suppose to be updated by only Deric. He is very busy, and can't always be the one to write messages, but anyone can write messages.

Okay, hopefully we can all get going on this. I want to be around to see my grandchildren grow up and give me great-grandchildren. I can't believe I even said that, it makes me sound really really old.
